Gorilla Bow combines weightlifting bar with resistance bands

Gorilla Bow = Bar + Resistance Bands

If regular resistance bands can be compared to dumbbells, Gorilla Bows are the barbell equivalent. A Gorilla Bow consists of a bow-shaped aircraft aluminum bar with slots to fit up to 4 resistance bands at a time to get the best resistance for your workout. It can handle over 300 lbs of resistance, which is more than enough for most people.

The Original Bow bundle comes with 4 resistance bands (10, 20, 30, and 50 lbs bands) for a total of 110 lbs of resistance and a bag for the bands. However, you might want to consider getting the Heavy Bow bundle, which comes with 8 resistance bands (10, 20, 30, 50, 50, 50, 60 & 60 lb bands) for a total of 330 lbs and have a little more flexibility in your workouts.

There's also a new bundle called the Ultra bundle, which comes with 7 bands including 2 short bands designed for short stretch movements like the bench press. For a full range of bands there's the Total bundle, which comes with 11 resistance bands including 2 short bands and bags for the bow and bands.

Using it like you would a bow and arrow can give you a good workout but there are many more ways to use it to give you a full-body workout. For example, you can do squats, deadlifts, curls, rows, bench press, and more.

Can it replace a full gym?

The Gorilla Bow is a great alternative to the traditional home gym system. It doesn't take up much space, it's convenient, and you can use it just about anywhere.

You can do a lot with the Gorilla Bow but if you don't get the Ultra or Total bundle with the short bands, you won't get the full range of motion on exercises like the chest press because there won't be enough tension.

Even with the short bands, the resistance is limited compared to what you can get from using a barbell or a pair dumbbells.

Also for exercises like the overhead press, the band might not be long enough especially if you're tall. You might have to kneel to get around this limitation.

The Gorilla Bow is not perfect but it doesn't take much space and there are plenty of exercises you can do to get in shape. Plus you can do outside in the sun and get the benefits of vitamin D.

Is it portable?

The original Gorilla Bow is too big and inconvenient for travel. However, there is a travel version of the Gorilla Bow called the Gorilla Bow Travel.

The Gorilla Bow Travel is a 3 piece version of the Gorilla Bow and features stainless steel push button spring locks for secure assembly and easy disassembly. It weighs 6lbs and disassembles into three 21-inch sections so it can fit your backpack and can be stored n small spaces.

Pros

  • Space saving
  • Portable
  • Multiple exercises
  • Convenient

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Not for the super strong

Conclusion:

Not everyone can afford a home gym or have space for one at home. The Gorilla Bow is a great alternative to the home gym and can help you build strength without bulky equipment. It can be quite expensive for some though. The Total bundle cost $247.50 at the time of writing. At this price, you can buy a bench and a pair of dumbbells. However, for what the Gorilla Bow can do, for the space it saves and portability it's a pretty good buy.
