Extreme Mist PCS – Automatic Misting Personal Cooling System

Hiking with the Extreme Mist PCS

2-in-1 Hydration Pack/Personal Cooling System

Don't let the heat discourage you from enjoying the benefits of being outdoors when the sun in shining. Vitamin D from the sun is good for you.

The Extreme Mist PCS (Personal Cooling System) is a hydration pack that automatically gives off mist at a press of a button to cool you down on hot days.

It's great for hiking, running, or anything outdoors when it's hot. The Extreme Mist PCS can cool down by up to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. It may not be exactly 30 degrees but it is quite refreshing.

The hydration pack includes, a high-pressure pump, rechargeable battery pack, 9 compartments, and wireless remote with multiple misting speeds. It allows you to drink and mist from the same reservoir.

To drink from the PCS, you do so like you would normally with a conventional hydration pack. It spews mist at a press of a button on a wireless remote.

There are 8 mist settings you can choose via the remote. On low misting speed, water consumption is only about 1.75 to 2.5 cups per hour and the battery can last up to 12 hours. The included insulated bladder has a capacity of 2 L.

The cooling system can be removed from the pack and used in a variety of ways for cooling down. With the Quad Hose/Nozzle Kit, you can set it mist out of 4 nozzles simultaneously. This could be useful in keeping your tent cool for example.

If you have a hydration pack

If you already have a hydration pack, you can save some money and get the PCS retrofit kit instead of the full hydration pack combo.

The full hydration pack with misting system cost $189 and the retrofit kit cost $119. You can install the kit on just about any hydration pack.

Even if you don't have a hydration pack, you can still use the kit on any backpack as long as you have a hydration pack reservoir.

Pros

  • Can be detached from pack for more than personal use
  • Refreshing on hot days
  • Wireless remote
  • Sufficient battery life

Cons

  • Heavier than normal hydration packs
  • Looks like you're vaping
  • Not waterproof

Conclusion:

Being outside in the sun is good for you but when it's too hot you can get heatstroke or you wont last long. The Extreme Mist PCS can make the hot outdoors a lot more bearable so you can enjoy more of the benefits of being in nature.
