NordicTrack Vault Smart Mirror Worth it?

A vault behind a mirror

The Vault is NordicTrack's take on the popular smart fitness mirror trend. It comes with a built- in storage space for all the equipment you need for the workouts.

The workouts are provided by iFit, one of the biggest streaming fitness apps, which they say is almost a big as Peloton. They are included with a free one-year subscription that normally cost $396 per year.

The iFit subscription included is a family subscription that allows you to create up to five user profiles for tracking workouts, progress, and to personalise the experience. If you decide you don't need to the multiple user profiles you can opt with the individual version, which cost $180 per year.

The workout classes involve the use of weights (dumbbells and kettlebells), resistance bands, yoga blocks and a yoga mat.

What's included with the Vault

Ther are two versions of the Vault: Standalone and Complete. Both come a free one-year iFit Family membership, bluetooth audio and dual speakers, mirror with built-in touch screen display, storage space, and cleaning towel.

The Complete version also includes:

– 6 sets of dumbbells (pair of 5 lbs, 10 lbs, 15 lbs, 20 lbs, 25 lbs, and 30 lbs dumbbells)

– a 20 lbs and 30 lbs kettlebell

– a yoga mat

– 2 yoga blocks

– 3 loop resistance bands

– 3 heavy resistance bands

The Complete version will set you back $1,000 extra. The Standalone version costs $1,999 and the Complete version costs $2,999.

Is the Complete version worth $1,000 extra?

The cost of getting equipment of similar quality like the ones included with the Complete version, according to one user is about $799 including shipping.

Obviously you can get that cost down by going for lower quality equipment and/or by getting them yourself from the local store to avoid the $30 shipping cost.

It's definitely not worth it if you already have the weights.

But if all the weights you need are hard to find and you want to avoid the hassle of looking for them, doing the research, and waiting, it may be worth it for the convenience.

Also might be worth it if you want all the equipment to fit perfectly inside the storage space and not have them lying around.

Best workout mirror of 2021?

The Greatist rates the NordicVault Vault Complete as the best overall workout mirror of 2021. It's not clear why they rate it so.

It comes with everything you need but it's expensive.

Also, one user reports that the Vault uses outdated hardware and software. It's slow to start up and is prone to overheating and crashing. You might need to turn off some features to improve performance.

See the video below:

Pros

  • Hides a storage space for equipment
  • Looks nice
  • Free one-year family subscription to iFit
  • Complete version conveniently includes everything you need

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Outdated software and hardware
  • Prone to overheating
  • May need to turn off features to improve performance
  • Some users report the Complete version does not ship with the weights at the same time and may have to wait for the weights.

Conclusion:

The NordicTrack Vault seems like a good option when it works. The use of outdated hardware and software may deter many from getting it especially for the price.

Even though it's a cool full-length free-standing mirror that turns into a workout machine at the press of a button, there are better options out there for the price.
