A lightweight all-rounder ebike
There are basically two types of ebikes: the Hub Drive ebike and the Mid Drive Motor ebike. The Mid Drive Motor has a few advantages of the the Hub Drive. Among the advantages is that it's more powerful, lightweight, and faster. It's also less noticeable than Hub Drive ebikes. The Swissrider is even less noticeable than the usual Mid Motor ebike. That's because the motor is hidden in its carbon fiber frame.
Made by the Swiss performance bike maker Thömus, the Swissrider is an all-rounder bike that can be configured for the city streets, gravel riding, trails. It weighs 25.3 lbs and is probably the lightest of its kind. The HPS Domestique is lighter at 20 lbs but that is strictly a road bike, not an all-rounder like the Swissrider.
Using a 250W Maxon Bikedrive Air Mid Drive motor, the Swissrider can provide a responsive pedal assist of up to 20 mph (32 km/h) with up to 40 Nm (29.5 lb.ft) of torque. It uses a 426Wh battery, 12-speed Shimano XT groupset, Shimano disc brakes, and 28″ Swchwalbe tires. The front and rear lights as well a display integrated into the frame makes it looks subtly futuristic.
