HovCart and HovScout ebikes – Similar specs, different purposes

Cargo hauler or explorer

Hovsco, the California-based ebike brand, has launched two new electric bikes with similar specs, but unique designs. The HovScout is perfect for those who want to venture into the wild, while the HovCart is great for carrying cargo around town.

The HovScout features a Class 2 ebike that can be unlocked to Class 3 via a mobile app for a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h). It is equipped with a powerful 750-W (1,032-W peak) rear-hub geared motor from Sutto, producing 85 Nm (62.6 lb.ft) of torque, and torque sensing for more responsive assistance over five pedal-assist modes. Riders can enjoy maximum ride flexibility with its 7-speed Shimano gearset.

The 720-Wh downtube battery provides up to 60 miles (96.5 km) of per-charge riding, and its LED light strip can be removed to light up the campsite. The smooth-welded aluminum alloy frame can accommodate riders between 5.25 and 6.16 ft (1.6 – 1.88 m) in height, and the suspension fork with 80 mm of travel and four-bar link lockout rear suspension combined with 4-inch fat ebike tires wrapping the 26-inch double-wall aluminum rims, absorb uneven terrain. It has hydraulic brakes with 180-mm rotors and can support a maximum payload capacity of 450 lb (204 kg).

The HovScout is equipped with an LCD display for battery status, speed, PAS level and distance, and it comes with integrated lighting and a single-leg kickstand. However, fenders are not included. The HovScout is available now for $2,499.

On the other hand, the HovCart is designed for hauling gear around town. It has the same motor with Class2/3 tweaking and torque sensing, 60-mile removable battery with LED strip light, Shimano gearset, and maximum payload capacity as the HovScout, but with a step-through frame, smaller wheels, and a rear cargo rack.

The low-step frame accommodates riders between 4.9 and 6.25 ft (1.49 – 1.9 m) in height, and the modular rack system can be customized in 200 different combinations, including front and rear baskets and cushioned double seating for kids. The HovCart features fat tires on 20-inch rims, a suspension fork only, full fenders, and hydraulic brakes from Tektro. It is priced at $1,999.

Whether you're a thrill-seeker looking for adventure or someone who needs to haul gear around town, Hovsco's HovScout and HovCart are the perfect ebikes for you. With their powerful motors, long battery life, and versatile features, you can enjoy a smooth and comfortable ride wherever you go.
