High perfomance, low cost, compact size
There's a reason why Wowgo is a popular budget electric skateboard. They're a good value for money, offering high performance at low cost.
WowGo packs a lot of value in a compact size in the WowGo Mini 2. The board is made of 8 layers of maple to ensure hardness and durability with a concave design for better control when riding.
Powered by 2 680 W hub motors for a total power of 1360 W, the Mini 2 has a top speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) and can go up to 30% hill inclines.
For a board the size of the Mini, 40 km/h is very fast; faster than the maximum speed allowed for ebikes in some places.
There are three ride modes for safety; Slow mode has a maximum speed of 20 km/h (12.4 mph), Medium mode goes up to 30 km/h (18.6 mph), Fast mode and Turbo goes up to the maximum 40 km/h (20 mph).
The difference between Fast mode and Turbo is that Turbo mode has a better acceleration.
The Mini 2 has a respectable range of 24 km (15 miles). This range is based on real-world use and could be a good indicator on how much range you might get out of it in normal everyday use.
The battery is removable so you can extend the range indefinitely with extra battery packs. Even when you do run out of battery in the middle of a ride, you can use it like a manual skateboard. Actual range per full charge varies depending on speed, terrain, and the rider's weight.
Speaking of weight, the Mini 2 has a maximum load of 150 kg (330 lbs). However the maximum weight recommended is 120 kg (264 lbs) and weights above that can have a huge impact on speed and performance.
The WowGo Mini 2 is water resistant but it is not waterproof. To prevent water damage and for safety, it is recommended that you stay from riding on wet surfaces.

WowGo Mini vs WowGo Mini 2
When it comes to speed and range, they're pretty much similar. Weight is also similar – the WowGo Mini 2 at 6.95 kg (15.32 lbs) is a bit lighter than the original WowGo Mini at about 7 kg (15.4lbs). The more powerful motor in the Mini 2 gives it a better acceleration. The original Mini has a total power of 500 W while the Mini 2 has more than twice that at 1360 W. The more powerful motor will likely be more robust when handling the same amount of strain.New to the Mini 2 and not present in the original is a pre-assembled brake pad on the bottom side of the tail. The brake pad can assist in braking but it is not recommended for beginners. Beginners should stick to braking using the remote control.
Pros
- Great value
- Modern design
- Powerful motors
- Agile
- Lightweight
- Very fast
- Removable batteries
Cons
- Speed and range not much different from the original
- Not waterproof
Conclusion:
Unlike longboards, shorter boards like the Mini 2 are very agile and very convenient in a city environment. Even with the battery and motor, they're still light enough to be carried around where and when you can't use them. The speed is pretty good especially for such a small board. The range is ok and within the standard of most electric skateboards. With extra batteries, you can get more ride time out of it. If you're for a good mini electric skateboard, the WowGo Mini 2 is one of the better options out there at a reasonable price.
