Koala Board Skateboard attaches magnetically to a backpack

More convenient than traditional skate packs

The Koala Boards skateboard is a unique and convenient skateboard designed by New Jersey-based skateboarder and entrepreneur, Oren Mendelow. Unlike traditional skateboards, the Koala Boards skateboard features two magnets recessed into the top/front of its North American hard maple deck. These magnets allow the skateboard to be easily and securely attached to a system-specific backpack or an existing pack with an attachment kit.

When the skateboard is placed against the back of the compatible backpack, the magnets engage with two other magnets located within two receptacles on the pack. Although the magnets help guide the board into place, additional clasping mechanisms within the receptacles ensure that the skateboard is secured. The board can reportedly withstand over 130 lb (59 kg) of outward pulling force but can be removed from the pack simply by sliding it upwards.

For those who don't want to purchase the backpack, an attachment kit is available, which includes two receptacles that can be attached to an existing pack. The Koala Boards backpack itself features padded sleeves for a 15.6-inch laptop and a tablet, a luggage strap, a USB charging port, and padding in the shoulder straps and back.

Kickstarter pledges for the Koala Boards skateboard range from $119 for a wheelless deck and attachment kit only, to $299 for a complete skateboard and Koala Boards backpack. Retail prices will be 20% higher. This innovative skateboard offers a fun and convenient way to get around town, making transportation and storage hassle-free.
